Adobe Lightroom is a professional photo-editor and tuner. If you are a professional, or an aspiring photographer this tool will come in handy. It can fix even the worst of photographs with just a few clicks. The only problem with Adobe Lightroom is that you can’t delete duplicate photos from its explorer window as there is no in-house solution available for users to take care of duplicate images.

Deleting Duplicate Photos in Adobe Lightroom
Method 1: Spot and Delete Duplicate Photos Manually
Adobe Lightroom allows you to view images on a grid and a list. If you think that there is a duplicate image available in the list, then the best way to delete it is by manually searching the image and its duplicates.
Although this is a time-consuming method, sadly this is the only way to ‘spot’ duplicate files in Adobe Lightroom. The software hasn’t provided any other way to search for finding duplicate files and deleting them.
Method 2: Use a Plugin
The second method to search for duplicate photos in Adobe Lightroom is through the plugins available. Unfortunately, the plugins aren’t free and you will have to pay before you can use them. The cost of a Lightroom plugin named Duplicate Finder is around $12.
This plugin searches for duplicate images within the Adobe Lightroom explorer and provides back a complete list with a very quick turnaround time.
Method 3: Use PictureEcho
The third way to delete duplicate photographs from Adobe Lightroom is through PictureEcho duplicate image finding software.
This program is specifically designed to take care of duplicate as well as similar images. It works well with Adobe Lightroom duplicate images as well as any other images scattered on your laptop’s hard disk. Besides scanning for duplicate images, it also has a dedicated mode to scan for similar images.
Simply download and install this software. Next, select the folder that contains your Lightroom image collection. Select Exact Match and then hit Start Search. The search might take a while to conclude. Once you get the scan results, choose which kind of images you wish to retain from the Select Duplicates button and finally, choose between deleting duplicates permanently or moving them to a folder of your choice from the Select Action button.
Method 4: Use Windows Search
You can also use the Windows 10 search bar to find and delete Adobe Lightroom duplicate images. Just note the Adobe Lightroom image folder’s path and search for it through File Explorer search.
Enter the image type e.g. *.jpg to search for jpg files.
Note: Use as many extensions as you want, e.g. .png, .bmp, .gif and so on.
