Bonus Tip: Delete Duplicate Images of Highest/ Lowest Resolutions
Using a third-party tool called PictureEcho, you can find duplicate photos at lightning speed and then take action on duplicate versions of your choice.
When you run a duplicate scan using PictureEcho, the program identifies duplicates on your PC and shows results in the form of thumbnails. Your photos are grouped into different groups based on the similarity. Since the duplicate result may contain hundreds of files, automated selection patterns are provided for simplification.
You can retain images by their resolution. For example: You may choose theRetain the highest resolution image in each group option to automatically un-mark images with higher resolution and mark images with lower resolution. All the marked images will be selected for deletion, and any unmarked images will be kept unchanged. Similarly, Retain the lowest resolution image in each group automatically un-marks images with lowest resolution and marks those with higher resolution for deletion.
Other Features of PictureEcho
- PictureEcho provides two scan modes: Exact Match and Similar Match.
- Exact Match compares your images for 100% accuracy. The scan results will deliver only those files that are fully identical in nature. Similar Match, on the contrary, will perform a deep analysis to find images that are nearly identical in nature. This has the potential to bring a maximum number of duplicate files. You can further customize the Similarity threshold by moving the slider to the right or left.
- Cloud Scan: Your purchase of PictureEcho comes with a free subscription to Cloud Duplicate Finder. Using Cloud Duplicate Finder, you can find duplicate photos on your cloud platforms such as OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, Box Cloud, Amazon S3, etc. without downloading a single file to your PC. Not only does this save your time, but also your Internet bandwidth.
- Lightroom Classic and Lightroom CC Scans: If you’re a photographer, you may probably have Adobe Lightroom installed on your computer. You can use PictureEcho to automatically find dupes and optimize the size and speed of your Lightroom database.
- Image Organizer: Using this feature, you can re-organize your images into a directory-structure of your choice based on their creation/ modification year, month, date, etc.
- Clear Empty Folders: Using this feature, you can get rid of unwanted empty folders on your PC.
