If you’re a user of any of the Adobe products or services, you’ve got free cloud storage as part of your monthly or annual subscription. You can use this storage to edit, save, securely share and sync PDFs, multimedia and graphics files.
Much like any other cloud platform, there are limitations in terms of how much data can be stored online. As soon as your account reaches 350,000, the maximum number of files that can be stored, you start receiving inadequate storage space notifications. You will no longer be able to store new files until you delete the existing files. This can be particularly annoying and productivity killer as you would spend more time deleting stuff than finishing up the projects at hand. Read on as we discuss some easy hacks to make some free space.
Method 1: Find Duplicate Files Online
While browsing your files on the Adobe CreativeCloud platform, you can choose to sort or order them by their names. Sorting the files by their names will help you identify duplicates. For example: Duplicate files can have identifiable suffixes such as – Copy(2), – Copy(3), etc. If no such suffix is found added to a file, it’s most likely the original file.
- Visit the Adobe CreativeCloud website.
- Sign in to your Adobe account.
- In the navigation panel on the left hand side, click on Your Files.
- Click on Sort By. The default option is Modified. Change it to File Name.
- Select the files and folders you want to delete using the checkboxes on the upper left corner. You can select multiple files and folders at once by pressing and holding the Shift key of your keyboard.
- Click on Permanently Delete.
Note: Do not close the browser until all the files are deleted. Closing the browser will stop the operation.
Method 2: Using CreativeCloud Desktop Application
Similarly, you can sync your files offline on a Windows desktop or Mac and then sort/ reorder them. This will help you find tons of duplicate files and free-up considerable storage.
- Download Adobe CreativeCloud Desktop application.
- During the installation and setup process, sign in to your Adobe account and choose to sync your files offline.
- Go to the following directory:
- For Windows users: C:\Users\YourUserName\<AdobeID> Creative Cloud Files
- For Mac users: HD/Users/YourUserName/<AdobeID> Creative Cloud Files
- Click on the Sort icon, select Name.
- Any files in your Adobe CC account will now be re-ordered in an ascending manner.
- You can identify duplicates using suffixes such as – Copy(2), – Copy(3), etc. and then delete them.
