Yes, you read it right. It has no in-house feature or an <\/span>algorithm <\/b>to detect duplication of your <\/span>image <\/b>and <\/span>video files<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fortunately, there is a way to deal with this problem of duplication. However, it requires you to first move all your content onto a computer. Here\u2019s how:<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Find-Duplicate-Files-In-Sony-Personal-Content-Station\"<\/p>\n

  1. Plug in your <\/span>Sony Personal Content Station <\/b>to a computer running <\/span>Windows <\/b>operating system. Wait for some time for the computer to recognize the Plug and Play device driver.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Create a new folder on your <\/span>Desktop<\/b>, and name it as <\/span>MyFiles<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Move all the stuff including images and videos from your Content Station to the <\/span>MyFiles <\/b>folder.<\/span><\/li>\n

When selected, Similar Match omits <\/span>minor differences <\/b>between image files such as <\/span>background<\/b>, <\/span>color pattern<\/b>, <\/span>border shapes<\/b>, etc.<\/span><\/li>\n
    2. Exact Match: <\/b>On the contrary, the <\/span>Exact Match <\/b>scan criteria looks for absolute identical content. That is to say, it displays only those files that have absolutely no differences. It is important to understand that each of these criterias have their own pros and cons. If you are a <\/span>photographer <\/b>frequently making edits to your images, you may find Similar Match criteria extremely helpful.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    3. Next, click on the yellow colored <\/span>Start Search <\/b>button. The scan should take place.<\/span><\/li>\n
    4. After accumulations of the results, make sure that the <\/span>Show Preview <\/b>box is checked up. The in-house preview functionality will allow you to compare and see the <\/span>content <\/b>of each file without needing to go the <\/span>target directory <\/b>and open each file. This can save a lot of time, and help review results at a <\/span>single glance<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
    5. You can manually review the results and check each file you want to move\/ delete.<\/span><\/li>\n
    6. If you are running out of time, you may want to use the <\/span>Select Duplicates <\/b>button. It automatically selects all duplicates based on a predefined criteria of your choice. Some of them are given below:<\/span>\n

      1. Retain newest files in each group:<\/b> This option keeps all newer versions of your files and deletes\/ moves the older ones. Use it if you\u2019ve made modifications to your photos and would like to retain those changes.<\/span><\/li>\n
      2. Retain oldest files in each group: <\/b>As the name describes, it keeps all older file versions and gets rid of the newer items.<\/span><\/li>\n
      3. Select by image location: <\/b>You may use this option to mark files from a specific directory with the intention to move\/ delete it. The Unmark option allows you to keep the file.<\/span><\/li>\n
      4. Deselect all: <\/b>This unmarks all files. You may either use it to keep all duplicates, or select them afresh.<\/span><\/li>\n
      5. Retain high resolution images in each group: <\/b>It is said that higher the resolution, better will be the image quality. You may choose this option to retain all better quality images in each group and move\/ delete those with relatively lower quality.<\/span><\/li>\n
      6. Retain low resolution images in each group: <\/b>This keeps all relatively lower quality images in each group. Low resolution images may occupy relatively smaller size and can be easily shared on the Web.<\/span><\/li>\n
      7. Select smaller images in each group:<\/b> If you\u2019re concerned about the disk space, you would want to keep all smaller sized duplicates and delete\/ move the larger ones.<\/span><\/li>\n
      8. Select bigger images in each group:<\/b> This allows you to retain bigger images and move\/ delete smaller ones.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
      9. Click on the <\/span>Select Action <\/b>button and choose one of the following options:<\/span>\n

        1. Permanently Delete: <\/b>This will move all the selected images permanently. This action cannot be undone. It is strongly recommended to review all files before choosing this option.<\/span><\/li>\n
        2. Move to Folder: <\/b>This is the recommended option. You can move all duplicate versions to a folder of your choice, and review them before deleting them permanently.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
        3. Once you\u2019ve gotten rid of unwanted duplicates, you\u2019ll want to move all the files from the <\/span>MyFiles <\/b>folder to the <\/span>Sony Personal Content Station<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>\n
        4. After you\u2019re done, safely unplug the USB cable. To do so, click on the upward arrow on the bottom right corner of your Taskbar, click on the <\/span>Safely Remove <\/b>icon and select your device.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
