The new browser gives an eminent performance in terms of browsing experience, mainly because of its latest features and advancements.

One of the easiest ways to keep your browser’s performance smooth is to regularly clean its cache. Doing so will ensure that any corrupt temporary files that may have formed as cache are removed from the system. This applies to all browsers, including Quantum.

Although Quantum is widely applauded for its performance, a few users complained that its speed (determined by factors such as page loading times) was often lower than the levels set by various other parameters of its valuable performance. We all know how frustrating it is when a page takes a little more time than usual to load completely. However, we do have solutions for that!

Solutions

Increasing the Content Process Limit

The multiple process technology present in Firefox Quantum enables a browser to use multiple content processes simultaneously. While the default number of content processes is set at 4, you can manually alter this number and increase it up to 7. In order to do so, first click on the Options section. Then, go to Performance. Next, deselect the Use recommended performance settings option. Now, take a look at the Content Process Limit drop-down box and you will be able to select the number 7 instead.

However, depending on the features of a computer system, the effects of increasing this limit might vary. Your browser might show unexpected behavior or might even crash. If anything similar happens, you are suggested to decrease the content process limit till the point you feel that your system is now stable.

Using a Better Ad-blocker

The fact that AdBlock is the most commonly used ad-blocker these days certainly does not prove that it is the best option available in the market. Quantum users are suggested to try uBlock. According to experts, uBlock enables the browser to run faster while putting less strain on it.

Disabling Add-Ons and Flash

Even today, most of the videos on different websites require Adobe Flash Player to run. Due to this, a page that has a video content on it takes more time to load, even if you are not interested in watching that specific content. This applies to online advertisements as well. To have a complete control over what content you wish to watch, you can alter the Flash settings by selecting Click to Play. To enable this setting, first go to the Plug-ins menu. Next, select Ask to Activate using the drop-down menu available for Flash.

Add-ons also increase page loading times. To avoid this, head to Add-ons in the Add-ons Manager section and remove all unnecessary ones.

Disabling Animations

Since animations are usually highly graphic, they are considered to have a larger file size. Due to this, a page with animations present on it is likely to have a longer loading time. Experts suggest that if animations are disabled, a browser’s speed can be enhanced. This can be done by first having a look at the about:config page. Here, you have to look for the browser.tabs.animate option. Doing so will allow you to browse the internet smoothly.

Hope we helped.
