But to prevent putting in loads of effort and time finding the needed files each time, you should rename them to remember where they are. So, let’s look at how you can rename Dropbox files on different platforms.

How To Rename Dropbox Files?

There are three different ways of renaming files: Visit the site (dropbox.com), use the mobile app, and install the desktop application. At the same time, you can also rename shared folders. But when you do it, it only reflects in your Dropbox.

Renaming on Dropbox.Com

The first method of renaming Dropbox files is visiting dropbox.com. Click or select ‘All Files’ in the left sidebar and navigate to the ellipsis sign. Select ‘Rename.’

Keep in mind that you should always select a name that is easy for you to remember, especially if you save or upload multiple folders and files daily. If you do not organize your Dropbox, you will have the same messed up situation just like in your PC.

Renaming On the Dropbox Desktop App

If you are using the Dropbox desktop app and wish to rename the files, you will only do it just the way you regularly rename the files. Simply double-click the file to rename it. The new filename will automatically appear on all devices connected to Dropbox.

Renaming Dropbox Files Using Cloud File Renamer

To rename files via Cloud File Renamer, visit the site and click ‘Dropbox’ on the top panel. You will have to log in from your Google or Microsoft account. Once you have logged in and selected Dropbox, Cloud File Renamer will scan and present a list of files stored.

Click ‘New Name’ and select how you wish to rename the files. You can either select the files individually or all at once. Make the changes and click ‘Apply Rule.’ The program will preview the renamed files under the ‘New Name’ section on the right. And once you are satisfied with the changes, click ‘Rename’ right on the extreme right corner at the bottom to rename the files in the Dropbox.

Dropbox is a great cloud storage platform that allows you to store hundreds of files of different types without creating a mountain of folders on your PC.
