The use of cache helps Dropbox to speed things up and improve the application performance. Your Dropbox cache may contain a variety of files in different formats. The cache may also contain a copy of files that are being currently uploaded or synced online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nevertheless, the cache may become corrupt over time. If you&#8217;re experiencing issues while using the Dropbox app or the sync isn&#8217;t working correctly, you may want to clear the application cache. Thankfully, the process is fairly simple and straightforward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Free up Dropbox storage by deleting duplicate files with <a rel=nofollow href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudduplicatefinder.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">Cloud Duplicate Finder.<\/a><\/strong><\/h3>\n<div dir=\"auto\" style=\"text-align: center;\">This web-app\u00a0is a harbinger of strong security principles.<\/div>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Microsoft Windows<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Exit the Dropbox application by right-clicking it&#8217;s system tray icon and selecting the Quit option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the Windows + R keys simultaneously.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>In the newly opened Run dialog box, type one of the following:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If you&#8217;re using Dropbox Personal:<br>%HOMEPATH%\\Dropbox\\.dropbox.cache<br><br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you&#8217;re using Dropbox for Business:<br>%HOMEPATH%\\Dropbox (Organization)\\.dropbox.cache<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on OK.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>File Explorer will automatically open up the Dropbox cache folder (.dropbox.cache) and show up the files it contains.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select all the files inside the Dropbox cache folder by using the Ctrl + A shortcut keys combination.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press the Delete key.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mac OS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>On your Desktop, click on the File menu and select the New Finder Window option.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Go to folder&#8230; (Alternatively, you may press Shift + Command + G).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Enter the following cache folder path:<br>~\/Dropbox\/.dropbox.cache<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Press Return.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Your Mac will open the Dropbox cache folder (.dropbox.cache).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select all the files from your cache folder and then drag &amp; drop them into the Trash.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Linux<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1.Open the Terminal. There are two ways to do so:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Press Ctrl + Alt + T keys simultaneously;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Right-click on an empty area of your Desktop, and select Terminal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Type the following command:<br>rm -R ~\/Dropbox\/.dropbox.cache\/*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Delete all the files in the cache folder (.dropbox.cache).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Android<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tap on the Settings icon.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap on Apps.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Select the Dropbox app.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tap on Storage > Clear Cache.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Confirm the action.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deleting Dropbox Junk<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dropbox offers 2 GB of free storage. Within a few minutes, you can free-up a handsome amount of storage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Steps:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Visit the Cloud Duplicate Finder website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sign up for an account and sign in to the website.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Dropbox.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Add New Drive.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>CDF will prompt you to sign in to your Dropbox account.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>After signing in, click on Scan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the scan results are displayed, mark the files you want to delete and keep remaining files unmarked. All unmarked files will be kept unchanged.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Click on Select Duplicates and choose whether to mark newest files\/ oldest files, etc.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lastly, click on Select Action and choose Move to Recycle Bin option to move all the <a aria-label=\" (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cloudduplicatefinder.com\/duplicate-file-finder-for-dropbox\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">marked duplicate files to the Dropbox Trash folder<\/a>.
